Ultra Proteus
1994
The E-MU Ultra Proteus is a 1U rackmount Z-plane synthesizer sound module released in 1994, built on the same engine as the E-MU Morpheus but with a distinct sound set and enhanced filtering. It holds 16MB of ROM samples organized into five preset banks (three internal plus two card-slot accessible), incorporating the complete sample libraries from the Proteus 1, 2, and 3 modules along with new drum sounds, additional waveforms, and the Proformance stereo grand piano. It pairs bright acoustic instrumental sounds with powerful 288 Z-plane filter synthesis and 32-voice polyphony.
