QDC
2001
QDC (Quad Digital Channel) was Fairlight's high-performance audio processing engine, announced in 2001 and used to power its MFX3plus, Dream and Constellation systems. It used a dual-processor control system with Fast Wide SCSI and an array of 40-bit floating-point SHARC DSP cards, enabling up to 48 tracks of simultaneous 96 kHz/24-bit recording, editing and gapless punch-in/out from a single drive. It was later superseded by the FPGA-based Crystal Core (CC-1/CC-2) engines.
