Voicetracker VT-5
1985
The Fairlight Voicetracker VT-5 (1985) is a rackmount pitch-to-MIDI and voice-to-MIDI converter that lets a singer or any monophonic instrument drive MIDI and CV synthesizers without a keyboard. Its Motorola 68008 CPU analyses pitch and harmonic content in about a millisecond, outputting MIDI notes and control voltages, and can track pitch exactly or quantize to semitones. Later firmware added intelligent harmonization of up to seven notes in a chosen scale.
