CMI Series IIx
1983
The Fairlight CMI Series IIx (1983) moved to faster Motorola 6809 processors and, crucially, added MIDI and SMPTE interfaces, integrating the Fairlight into emerging studio synchronization and sequencing setups. Sampling remained 8-bit but the system gained an improved sample rate and the mature Page R sequencer software. The IIx was the most widely adopted of the classic-era Fairlights.
