Proteus/1
1989–1994
Released in 1989, the Proteus/1 was E-MU's first rack-mountable sound module and set the stage for the company's successes throughout the 1990s. It carried 4MB of pop and rock sounds derived from the Emulator III library segmented into ROM sets, including pianos, organs, strings, horns, guitars, basses, drums, and Latin percussion. With 32-voice polyphony and 16 MIDI channels, it became a cornerstone of E-MU's Proteus line.
