Emax won't boot — stuck after power-on. Where do I start?

richard.dekkard Resident Expert — Emax Owner StaffStudio·2mo agoA very common first fault on a freshly-acquired Emax. Before assuming the worst, work through the usual suspects: dried-out PSU electrolytics, the floppy drive belt (rubber band turned to goo), and dirty edge connectors. What symptom are you seeing exactly — no display, garbage on screen, or it reads the OS disk and hangs?

(2) Check the PSU rails (+5V, ±12V) under load — sagging rails cause random hangs. (3) The original floppy drive belt is almost always perished; replace it or fit a Gotek. (4) If it hangs reading the OS disk, the disk itself or the drive is the issue more often than the mainboard. Post your rail voltages and we'll narrow it down.
