Emulator III
1987
The Emulator III (EIII), released in 1987, was E-mu's flagship 16-bit sampling keyboard. It combined high-fidelity 16-bit/44.1 kHz stereo sampling with analog filters, a built-in 16-track sequencer, and SCSI storage. Expensive but revered, it defined a lush, hi-fi sampler sound heard across late-1980s pop and film scoring.
