Sound RAM Memory Expansion

Symptoms this guide addresses

  • Upgrading sample memory
  • Installing SIMMs
  1. Unplug the AC power cord.
  2. Remove the cover: Remove the 7 screws (3 top back, 2 side recesses) and lift the rear of the top panel up and off.
  3. Remove old memory (if necessary): Squeeze the tabs on the SIMM socket outward while pushing the SIMM to the right. Hinge it up to remove.
  4. Ground yourself before handling new SIMMs.
  5. Install new SIMMs: Insert the first SIMM closest to the LEFT at a 45-degree angle (chips facing rear). Tilt it up until it clicks.
  6. Repeat for the second SIMM if applicable. (Install larger SIMM in RAM A if sizes differ).
  7. Reassemble the top cover and screws.
  8. Power on and verify the memory size on the boot display.
  9. Run Diagnostics (see Memory Diagnostics procedure) to verify installation.
