E5000 Ultra

The E-MU E5000 Ultra (1999) was the entry-level model in E-mu's Ultra series of EOS rackmount samplers. It ran the full EOS operating system with 64-voice polyphony and RAM expandable up to 128 MB, but sat below its siblings: it was limited to four audio outputs, could not accept the voice-processing upgrade, and could not author (write) sound ROMs. As E-mu's most affordable Ultra sampler, it brought the EOS sample-playback and synthesis architecture — Z-plane filters, extensive real-time controllers, and resampling — to a lower price point. It reads E-mu EOS/E4 banks and the company's CD-ROM sample libraries.
