The E-MU 1616 is a 16-in/16-out 'Laptop' Digital Audio System: an '02' CardBus card plus an external MicroDock breakout (a PCI host card came later). The MicroDock adds two mic/guitar/line preamps with phantom power, balanced line ins, six balanced outs with headphone out, coaxial S/PDIF, ADAT up to 24-bit/192kHz, and dual MIDI; the card runs the E-DSP/PatchMix DSP engine and effects. It is the standard-converter sibling of the 1616M.
