TheYamaha SHS-10, known inYamaha's native country,Japan, as theYamaha Sholky, Sholky being derived from "ShoulderKeyboard", is akeytar(amusical keyboardthat can be held like aguitar) manufactured by Yamaha and released in 1987. It has a small-sized keyboard with 32 minikeys and a pitch-bend wheel, vibrato and sustain buttons, an internalFrequency modulation(usually referred to asFM)synthesizeroffering 25 different voices with 6-notepolyphony, two operators, and a very basicchordsequencer. It also has aloudspeaker.
The Yamaha SHS-10, released in 1987, was one of the first commercially successful keytars. This 32-key portable keyboard featured a strap for standing performance and FM synthesis. The SHS-10 made keyboard performance mobile and visually engaging for 1980s pop musicians.
