The Yamaha DX27, released in 1985, was an entry-level FM synthesizer offering four operators and simplified programming compared to the DX7. This 61-key instrument provided 8-voice polyphony and the distinctive FM sound at an affordable price. The DX27 was Yamaha's attempt to make FM synthesis more accessible.
