Overview
The Yamaha DX1, released in 1983, was the flagship of Yamaha's DX series, featuring dual six-operator FM engines and a weighted wooden keyboard. Only approximately 140 units were manufactured, making it one of the rarest Yamaha synthesizers.
The DX1 offered 64-note polyphony across two independent FM synthesis sections, allowing massive layered sounds. The weighted wooden keyboard provided piano-like feel rare in synthesizers. The programmable memory stored 64 patches.
The DX1's rarity and status as the ultimate DX series instrument make it extraordinarily valuable. It represents Yamaha's FM synthesis technology at its most ambitious.
