OverviewThe Yamaha CS2x, released in 1999, was a virtual analog synthesizer offering analog-style sounds with modern convenience. This 61-key instrument featured AWM2 sampling, a comprehensive arpeggiator, and real-time control knobs for sound manipulation.
The CS2x provided 64 voices of polyphony and multitimbral operation. The instrument targeted dance music producers with its pattern-based sequencing and synthesizer-focused sound set. The built-in effects enhanced the dance-oriented sounds.
The CS2x competed with Roland's JP-8000 and Access Virus in the late-1990s virtual analog market. It offered Yamaha's take on analog-style synthesis with the reliability of digital technology.
