The Telefunken V72 was designed in the early 1950s by TAB (Technische Ausführungen Berlin) for German broadcast applications. Its use at Abbey Road Studios (including on early Beatles sessions) and throughout European broadcasting made it legendary. Original V72 units are extremely rare and command $3,000-$5,000+. Stam Audio developed the SA-V72 to make this tube classic accessible to modern engineers, using carefully selected tubes and transformers to match the original warm, musical character.

The Stam Audio V72MP is a faithful two-channel replica of the Telefunken V72 tube preamplifier — originally developed in the late 1940s for German radio broadcasts. Its big, rich sound led to it being used in recording studios worldwide, most notably by the Beatles in the famous "RED" 37 console. Strictly follows the original design with a Moby input transformer (original ratio 50+50/47K), EF86 tubes for authentic tube sound and rich harmonic distortion, Sowter output transformer (76k/600ohms matching original ratio), and critical Sowter choke. Delivers 34dB of gain like the original. Impedance selection: HI-Z 50 ohms (1:20) or 200 ohms (1:10). Hand made in Chile.
