SA-76+

2015

The Stam Audio SA-76+ is an exact replica of all four most revered revisions of the UREI 1176 FET compressor — Revision A, D, F and G — in a single unit. Uses the correct O-12 and 50002 transformers for Rev A and D, Carnhill output for Rev F, and bypasses the input transformer for Rev G, exactly like the originals. A proprietary relay switching matrix allows seamless switching between revisions. Each unit includes a Sowter UTC O-12 replica input transformer, Sowter 1327 and Carnhill output transformers, Vishay/Tantalum capacitors, and historically correct output transistors. Also features Super Slow Attack Mod (20ms), tube blend control per revision, dry/wet mix, 8-position sidechain HPF, and true bypass. Hand made in Chile.

The UREI 1176 was designed by Bill Putnam Sr. in 1967 at Universal Audio, revolutionizing compression with its FET-based gain reduction and ultra-fast attack times. It became the most widely used studio compressor in history. Stam Audio SA-76 brings this legendary design to modern studios with authentic circuitry and transformers at a fraction of vintage prices (original units cost $3,000-$5,000+).
