The Neve 33609 was introduced in the late 1970s as the stereo dynamics section for Neve 80 Series and later VR consoles. It combined the 2254 diode bridge compressor with a separate FET limiter for fast peak control. The 33609 became the British bus compressor standard before SSL took over that role. Stam SA-609 brings this classic stereo dynamics processor to modern studios.

The Stam Audio SA-609+ features all four historic Neve 33609 revisions in a single unit — four legendary compressors for the price of one. Using UK-made Carnhill transformers (3 per channel) and reverse-engineered BA-440 op amps with a proprietary relay switching matrix: Metal Knob (smooth, dark top, huge low end), Revision C (brighter, push above 6kHz), Revision J/D (aggressive, mid-forward), and Revision N (flat, tight, modern). Also includes Super Slow Attack Mod (20ms), 3-position sidechain HPF, dry/wet blend, stepped controls for mastering recall, brick-wall limiter, and dual VU meters. Ratios: 1.5:1 to 6:1.
