The SA-1B5 was developed to make the Neve 1081 sound available in the popular 500 series format, following the success of the 1073-5T module. It represents Stam commitment to bringing classic console sounds to modern modular systems, allowing engineers to build custom Neve-inspired channel strips in lunchbox configurations.

SA-1B5
The Stam Audio SA-1B5 is a meticulously reverse-engineered replica of the legendary Danish CL1B opto compressor, built into a 500-series format. It features a custom opto gain reduction element designed to match the original's period-correct attack time constants, operating at original voltage. The signal path runs through a custom US-made input transformer and a Swedish Lundahl output transformer, with a 12AU7 and 12AX7 tube complement providing 30dB of gain. Modern enhancements include a dry/wet blend control for parallel compression, a 5-position high-pass filter, continuously variable or fixed attack/release times, and input/GR/output LED metering. With a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 95dB, it offers studio-grade performance. The 2U-height module draws 450mA. Hand-assembled in Chile.
