The Stam Audio SA-87i is an exact sounding replica of the finest vintage Neumann U87 — specifically a 1979 revision 16 model identified after testing dozens of originals over a decade. Handcrafted with a Braingasm K-87 capsule, Sowter 1303F UK-made output transformer, Vishay capacitors, and hand-soldered polystyrene capacitors. Vintage units operated at 48V polarization (vs contemporary 60V), resulting in a more musical and mellow character with increased headroom and reduced distortion.
