Overview
The Roland XP-50, released in 1995, was a music workstation combining the JV-1080 sound engine with sequencing capabilities. This 76-key instrument offered 64-voice polyphony, comprehensive effects, and a 16-track sequencer.
The XP-50 provided Roland's professional sounds with integrated composition tools. The large LCD display simplified sound selection and sequence editing. Expansion slots allowed adding SR-JV80 sound cards for additional libraries.
The XP-50 competed with Korg and Yamaha workstations in the mid-1990s market. It offered a balance of sounds, sequencing, and affordability that appealed to project studios and home musicians.
