TheRoland MC-202(MicroComposer) is amonophonicanalog synthesizerandmusic sequencerreleased byRolandin 1983. It was the firstgroovebox.Its synth is similar to theTB-303bass synthand theSH-101synthesizer, featuring onevoltage-controlled oscillatorwith simultaneous saw and square/pulse-width waveforms. It is a successor to the Microcomposer family of sequencers, including theMC-8andMC-4.The unit is portable and can be operated from batteries or an external power supply.
