Michael Roland Powers(Chinese:包迈高;pinyin:Bāo Màigāo; born November 19, 1959) is an Americanacademicwho is the Chair Professor ofFinanceatTsinghua University’sSchool of Economics and Management (SEM)in China. Since 2014, he has held a dual appointment as professor at Tsinghua'sSchwarzman College. An internationally recognizedriskandinsuranceexpert, he was a 2011 recipient of China’sThousand Talents Planaward. In 2013, he won the Kulp-Wright Book Award forActs of God and Man: Ruminations on Risk and Insurance(2012, Columbia University Press).
