1989
The Ensoniq VFX-SD is a 61-key, 21-voice digital synthesizer using Ensoniq's Transwave-based engine with built-in 24-bit ESP effects. It extends the base VFX by adding a 24-track onboard sequencer (25,000 notes, expandable) and a 3.5-inch disk drive for storing patches, sequences, songs, and SysEx data. It also adds new drum and percussion waveforms and two extra audio outputs, effectively turning the VFX into a self-contained music production workstation.
