The Ensoniq SQ-1 is a digital synthesizer workstation released in 1990, built on Ensoniq's wavetable/Transwave technology where each voice layers up to three waves, each with its own envelope and filter. It has a 61-note velocity- and pressure-sensitive keyboard, is multitimbral, and uses dynamically allocated polyphony. An integrated multitrack sequencer makes it a self-contained workstation; the same engine appeared in the 76-key SQ-2 and rackmount SQ-R, making it a popular affordable early-1990s production keyboard.
