SQ-R

SQ-R

1990

The Ensoniq SQ-R is the 1U rackmount sound-module version of Ensoniq's SQ series, delivering the same sample-based (ROM waveform) digital synthesis as the SQ-1/SQ-2 keyboards but without a keyboard or sequencer. It is multitimbral with dual multimode digital filters, three envelopes, an LFO, and an onboard stereo digital effects section. The original SQ-R offered 21-voice polyphony; later SQ-R Plus and SQ-R Plus/32 revisions added 16-bit piano waveforms and up to 32 voices, making it a compact rack tone generator for SQ-series sounds.
