The Ensoniq SD-1 is a 61-key music production synthesizer using Ensoniq's Transwave wavetable synthesis, with 21 voices of polyphony and 1 to 6 oscillators per voice drawn from 168 waveforms in 3.5 MB of ROM. It refines the VFX-SD with new waveforms (including over 1 MB of 16-bit piano samples) and retains the professional 24-track onboard sequencer (25,000 notes, expandable to 75,000) plus a built-in 3.5-inch disk drive. A later SD-1/32 doubled polyphony to 32 voices; the SD-1 was Ensoniq's flagship workstation of the era.
