Mirage Rack
1985
The Ensoniq Mirage DMS-8 (Digital Multi-Sampler) was the 2U rackmount version of the Mirage, released in 1985 with the same 8-bit sampling engine and 8-voice polyphony as the DSK-8 keyboard. It records samples at a variable rate of about 10 to 33 kHz into 128 KB of RAM, stores them on a 3.5-inch floppy drive, and shapes sound with analog CEM3328 low-pass filters plus envelopes, vibrato, a single-track sequencer, and full MIDI control. It brought the affordable Mirage architecture to studio rack and MIDI-controller setups.
