- Position the SCSI device and the EIIIX in a stable location.
- Connect the SCSI device using a 50-pin Centronics cable.
- Set the SCSI ID of the external device to a number other than 5.
- Turn on the external SCSI device.
- Insert the software floppy disk into the floppy drive.
- Apply power to the EIIIX. It will load the floppy disk software. Remove the floppy when finished.
- Press Load. If the display reads 'No Valid Drives', proceed.
- Format the disk: Press Master/Global, then 77 on the keypad. Select 'FORMAT DISK', select your hard disk, and press Inc/Yes to confirm.
- Copy software: Press Master/Globals, 7, 4. Select the floppy as source and hard disk as destination. Confirm erasure.
- Reboot: Turn off both units, then turn on the EIIIX. It should boot from the hard disk.
