Black Corporation is a Japanese boutique synthesizer manufacturer based in Tokyo, founded by Roman Filippov in 2017. The company specializes in meticulously engineered recreations of legendary vintage polysynths that are either impossibly rare or prohibitively expensive on the used market. Rather than calling their instruments clones, Black Corporation describes them as 'replicants'—modern reimaginings that combine authentic analog signal paths with contemporary features like MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), polyphonic aftertouch, preset storage, and microtuning support. The company's product line includes the Deckard's Dream (inspired by the Yamaha CS-80), Xerox (Elka Synthex), Kijimi (RSF Polykobol II), and ISE-NIN (Roland Jupiter-8). Each instrument is available as both a fully-assembled unit and a comprehensive DIY kit. Black Corporation's DIY documentation and build guides have become legendary within the synth DIY community for their thoroughness and clarity. The founder, Roman Filippov, previously developed Eurorack modules under the Sputnik Modular brand and also worked with Buchla USA on their 200 Series Classic reissue. All Black Corporation instruments are designed and assembled in Japan, featuring 100% analog signal paths with digital control for presets and MIDI implementation. Their unique approach has made high-end polyphonic analog synthesis accessible to DIY builders while offering professional musicians modern reliability and expression capabilities in instruments inspired by the most coveted vintage synthesizers ever made.
