American synthesizer company founded in 1969 by Alan Robert Pearlman (ARP = his initials), Newton/Lexington, Massachusetts. Defined 1970s synthesis with the ARP 2600, Odyssey, and a line of preset, string and paraphonic synths. Went bankrupt in May 1981; the brand was revived by Korg in 2014 for reissues.
